Timothy Toner
Founder and Managing Director

Tim founded Vesparum with a goal to provide truly independent advice to boards and management teams by leveraging the paradigm shift towards data-driven decision making. Since 2012, he has overseen more than 80 capital markets engagements for a broad range of publicly listed and private companies. Tim draws on more than 15 years of capital markets experience, including several years at independent advisory firm Lazard and global investment bank Macquarie Capital. He has worked across all aspects of the capital markets, with a focus on principal investments, equity capital markets and M&A. Tim holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

Dr Benjamin Toner
Co-founder and Data Scientist

Ben is an expert in quantum computing. He leads our data science team and research efforts into best-in-class capital markets transactions. Ben has a Ph.D. and Master of Science in Physics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physics from the University of Melbourne, where he currently holds an honorary position as a Fellow in the School of Physics. Prior to his role at Vesparum, Ben worked at the Dutch National Centre for Mathematics and Computer Science in Amsterdam.

James Barber
Managing Director

James has 15 years of experience in the financial services industry as an investor and trusted advisor. His extensive institutional investment and strategy consulting background helps our clients maintain a long-term, shareholder-friendly perspective. Before joining Vesparum, James worked as a Principal with the Boston Consulting Group in London for five years, advising leading corporations and investment groups on strategy and operational excellence. Prior to this he was an institutional investor at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he was responsible for investment decisions in long-only and long/short portfolios. James holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (1st Class Honours) from Oxford University and has been a CFA Charterholder since 2006.
